Family-owned, affordable, nondescript but incredibly tasty restaurant. My favorite vegan spot in Hawaii. It’s too bad so few people are in whenever we visit; they deserve more recognition. I brought my grandmother here weeks ago; she’s run a catering business for decades, and is very picky about restaurant food. Though she isn’t vegan, she gave this place 2 thumbs up! Must try’s: mushroom linguine, curry noodle, pumpkin soup, sugar cane juice

I’ve been to this vegan friendly restaurant EASILY a dozen times now in the last year. I can’t believe the little amount of foot traffic. You sit down immediately, they serve you within 10 minutes of you ordering!? Annnnd the food is phenomenal! I want to point out, I am not a vegan, will probably never be a vegan, but my girlfriend is a vegan so this is a go-to spot for us. Usually eating at a vegan restaurant feels like a compromise or a sacrifice of flavor. But not Simple Joy. HOLY (vegan-friendly) COW! Flavorful, great service, the main waiter is absolutely a delight, and the portions are huge for Honolulu pricing. For the love of God give this hole in the wall some more love ❤️ You won’t regret it! P.S This is not a paid review, I’m actually siting in the restaurant right now with 5 entrees, 2 specialty drinks, and an appetizer in front of me and it’s only me and my girlfriend. The food is even good reheated! If you’re unsure what to buy.. Highly highly recommend the mushroom linguine. We don’t eat here without buying it. Whether we eat now or later, damn, its good 👍🏻 P.S. P.S. sorry not sorry for eating some of the food before taking photos

Food was very tasty and the menu had a nice variety of things I don't normally get from my home town Asian/fusion vegan restaurants staff member was friendly. Could use some Feng shui and play some music to set a mood a little bit

Enjoyed a lovely comforting and nourishing family meal here. I got their lemongrass tofu which was quite flavorful and satisfying, and also got to try nibbles of their unassumingly tasty Puttanesca pasta, which came with some great mock chicken that had all the texture and flavor to satisfy a meat craving. Staff were very sweet too. Also recommend their appetizers, and banana salad flower, which was very unique and refreshing!

The pumpkin soup feels like a warm hug. The lemongrass tofu is too good, did not expect the it to be such a flavor bomb. Nice little place, must visit.

My wife is vegetarian and I enjoy it too from time to time. The pan fried broccoli and spring rolls were out of this world good. The broccoli in particular was not heavy on oil and the garlic was perfect. The spring rolls were fresh. It had just the right amount of tofu and veggie and noodle. Prices are good as well. If you’re looking for a good vegetarian restaurant to break up all the heavy eating this is a great spot. They do have free parking and back.

This was the best vegetarian restaurant I found in Hawaii. The food was so good I had dinner there twice and bought a takeaway for lunch the next day each time. I had the banana leaf salad at the top of the Ka'au trail hike and it was sublime! All the food was freshly made and very flavourful.

Love this place. By far, the best vegan food on the island! My personal favorites are the banana flower salad and the Bahn-Mi sandwich. Service is typically pretty quick, and pricing is on par with market trends. Even my non-vegan friends love eating here.

I went to Simple Joy Vegetarian cuisine with some guests and ordered the thai curry soup large. $15. My friend also ordered it. Both of us did not feel like the soup was good. My friend ate it and didn't say anything. I actually felt nauseous because it didn't taste like what I usually order and smelled off. The waiter was sweet and older so we repeatedly had to chase her down. I didn't see anyone else trying to get her attention. I asked to switch out my meal and she immediately said no refund. She seemed to think I was just looking for a refund and spoke before I got a chance to speak. I told her I was getting nauseated from the food and she said I still had to pay for it. I ordered the bahn mi sandwich which was around 12$. So I paid for an experience that cost 30$ It felt like a rip off. Overall the food tasted a little bland and I think they should take accountability for their dishes if the customer is not satisfied. I also feel we could have been treated with more respect. It was a classic case of "we don't respect your community but we will take your money and answer any complaints through deflection with a smile." I was disappointed and felt as though the establishment was comfortable taking their customers for granted. If you do not feel comfortable with a dish you order speak up and say something. If a restaurant can't take accountability for a few dollars with their dish, they don't care about the customer's experience. They want to feel justified in disrespecting select communities while taking their money. I would go to a different restaurant for a tasteful experience
