I thought I was walking into the standard Mexican restaurant with the piñatas, etc. but this place was modern with touches of Mexican decor and a message of “healthy”. The owner is very attentive and passionate about her “message” and ensuring she is making healthy delicious food. Vegan is important to me, but so is my health. I wish this place was closer to my house and I would go here more. The owner needs to open a location in Aurora please? This place is great, and love the vibe!

Fantastic food, everything down to the tortillas were handmade and phenomenal, lovely little place and one of the very few fully vegan places I've been able to find. Will recommend to others!

I fell in love with this spot! My boyfriend and I came to Chicago on a weekend trip and were worried we wouldn’t find any vegan options near our hotel. We were ecstatic to find Abuelita Coco Café only 3 minutes from our hotel! The vibe was instant upon walking in! You’re hit with bright, vibrant colors, cactus decor and beautiful pictures of family and Mexico. The owners and staff make you feel family! Not only do they share the story of how the restaurant came to be, but one of the owners, Cassandra, even comes to the table to share her own style of “magic” with her cards of positivity when seeing you off. AND THE FOOD… OMG!! The food is some of the best I’ve had in the ten years I’ve been vegan! You can taste that it’s made with love! You have to try their flan!! And the flautas are probably THE BEST flautas I’ve ever had! And I’m Mexican! I KNOW flautas! It was so good that we’re coming back tonight for dinner!!

The restaurant itself is spotless and well‑maintained, making for a welcoming atmosphere. Listen up‼️ A must, all the reviews you’ve read outside, of mine, are correct. Amazing with a layer of Amazing is the description Authenticity with added pizzazz. Seansoned beyond perfection, enough to touch the soul. It will captivate you beyond belief. My order was the Tres Taco dinner!
