Black Leaf Vegan Cafe

Ordered the vegan bacon ranch burger with a side of mac and cheese. Everything was phenomenal. Portion sizes were great; I left feeling stuffed. The food is garnished nicely as well. Support vegan businesses!

The worker who has been in there the last 2 times I’ve come in is extremely rude. She didn’t acknowledge me when I walked in and took her time taking my order when I was the only customer!! I get the order for my son and he has said the quality has fallen off. They don’t have to worry about me coming back. I miss when the owner and his family was there, do they still own it?

I’m more of a carnivore, but this place had some really decent vegan food. Mom got nachos which I had to try and they were really good. My daughter got the original burger with bacon and loved it. Mostly because of the pretzel bun. I got the jackfruit sandwich, also really nice but VERY messy. The fries were not great imo because I like crispy fries and they weren’t. The kid at the counter was excellent with our 10 person group and got everything right the first time. Not to mention they’re pet friendly which was nice because we’re traveling with pets. I’d go again. I’d go every day if they served meat.

Unfortunately, my experience was not relatable to many of the other five star reviews that this establishment has. I am hoping that my experience was an outlier. I ordered their guac burger, and was very disappointed by the integrity of the buns. It almost tasted as if the burger was put inside of a microwave, and once I received it, the the burger completely dismantled. Secondly, the service was extremely poor. I am assuming that the two individuals that were taking care of the restaurant at the time were temporary. They did not speak any English, whatsoever, therefore it was challenging to ask for recommendations or order, for that matter; which isn’t a huge issue, however, their friendliness and hospitality was lacking. Smiles go a long way.

I started coming here in 2023 and its been my most favorite spot in the whole world to stop at. Today I picked up a jack slider and the loaded nachos. Except I got a small container of all the toppings thrown in with fake beef instead of tbe jackfruit and then like a small doritos bag worth of chips in a tiny container as well. The slider was mostly the white sauce with very little anything else.... Im really hurt because I spent $50 on a pickup order that used to be multiple meals for me. I won't ever be back. 😔💔 What makes it worse are seeing tbe portions in the even recent good reviews compared to what I received. With me tipping 20% for a pickup order. Smh.

The food was fantastic and it’s a chill little spot close to the canal. We went walking after eating.
