We were frequent customers to this establishment. However, since the renovations we have not been there until today. Sadly, this was such a disappointment. I’m not sure who is leaving these five star reviews. The food is horrible. I ordered 4 entrees along with sides. The infamous Mac and Cheese both the original and cashew were disgusting. The original Mac and Cheese was watery and sour. The cashew Mac and Cheese tasted burnt and was not great. The collard greens were watery and not seasoned enough. The dummies (maple curry & old bay) were the only things that tasted good. The garlic kale also used to taste great. Today, it did not. Please do better. Anyone interested in eating a plant-based diet or who has been on a plant- based diet will not visit your establishment, if you continue to serve food that does not taste great.

I live in Georgia now, but on Sunday June 29th, my son and I went to Elife for drinks. I asked the young man how much were the drinks in the refrigerator. He said the prices are listed on the drinks. I chose the lemonade ginger $5.50, my son chose the watermelon drink $6.25. As we proceed to the register, he rung up both drinks for $6.25. I told him my drink is not $6.25 my drink is $5.50. He said I have to charge you $6.25 because that's the price in the system. I said you told me the prices were on the drinks! My drink says $5.50 not $6.25! Why would you charge me $6.25 when my drinks says $5.50?! "PLEASE MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!" I told that young man that I was not going back and forth with him on the prices of the drinks, my son and I we left! I WILL NEVER EVER RETURN TO ELIFE WHEN I'M VISITING AGAIN!!! POOR SERVICE! Well seasoned and cooked food (not over or under cooked). Prices are reasonable for vegan food. The drumettes are the main reason I went to this restaurant and they did not disappoint. My order included collard greens, black eye peas over rice, lemon herb drumettes and honey drumettes. I never pass up sorrel and it was very good as well. I will return the next time I’m in MD.

I am really grateful for Black owned vegan options in the neighborhood. I have been a customer for over a decade, have never had a bad meal or visit at the restaurant. Community events are a plus. Take notes from Dr. B! This is how it's done.

I had been struggling as to whether or not to make this post because I like this place so much. I always get asked, “why do you keep going if the customer service isn’t the greatest and you always have an issue when you go?” My response is, because the food is good. After the last visit, I’m paying a ton of money to not have good customer service along with good food. I always order over $50 of food, but the last time I also ordered a plain waffle. Once the waffle is handed to me, it’s handed to me with all of this sauce and fruit. I told him I wanted a plain waffle but I said it’s okay, because I didn’t feel like waiting again for the waffle which is made fresh. I get to my destination and took the waffle out of the container to put it on plate. That’s when I realized why I was given a waffle with a bunch of stuff on it I didn’t ask for, it was burnt at the bottom. That to me was messed up, instead of saying we burnt your waffle do you mind waiting a little longer? Giving me a burnt waffle and covering up the fact that it was burnt was deception. I spoke very highly of this place to multiple people and even had them try some of the food I’ve purchased in the past. I think I will give this place a rest for a while, it’s unfortunate because their food is good. The customer service needs to be addressed too, act like you want to be there even if you don’t. The most pleasant people I’ve dealt with when going there were the Spanish servers and the guy that wears what I think is the kufi. But unfortunately, he was the one who passed off the burnt waffle.
