Much faster service than all other Ethiopian restaurants surrounding it. Big plates to fill up everyone. Hot and fresh food. Polite and friendly waitresses. Bright and Clean restaurant. My new favorite spot to go.

I've eaten at many Ethiopian restaurants over the years, and this one is among the very best! Three of us recently enjoyed a Sunday lunch here. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed. The service was attentive and professional. The veggie combo was really delicious. Without exception, the spices and seasonings in the lentils, split peas, and greens added to the flavor of the dishes. In addition, the spicy tibs was succulent and flavorful. I highly recommend Beteseb to others, and I'd love to return!

First time trying Ethiopian food! Decided to visit this restaurant after reading a positive review in the 2025 Washingtonian Magazine Top Restaurants Issue. Unfortunately, much of the food I am not able to eat because of a food allergy. However, they were able to accommodate for my allergy and point out what I could eat. The food was excellent. I was very surprised at how good and flavourful the food was. Excellent flavor and well seasoned! I was not a fan of the Ethiopian bread that comes with the meal but the lamb was outstanding and the salad with the dressing was very very tasty. I never in my life had dressing that good! I wish they had a greater selection of juices. They only serve orange juice. However, this restaurant gets four stars. It is an affordable meal and makes a great destination for a date night or if you just want an above average meal. I will definitely go back to this restaurant and try something else on their tasty menu. Oh if anyone decides to go after reading this view please give the servers a generous tip. They really work hard and count on a good tip. It puts a big smile on their face and makes them feel appreciated.

One of our favorite places nearby that has just the right combo of cozy atmosphere, consistently good food, friendly staff, and heck, they have a glass encased wall of beer. They have an eye on all their guests. I know people have their own preferences for injira, but we like the taste, texture, and soaking-up ability of theirs. We like the crispy beef tibs - combo of the roasted tomatoes, onions, and beef is very good. We usually get the veggie combo platter and the meat and veggie combo to satisfy the whole family of four, plus a meat dish. The lamb is tender and delicious as well. We try a new dish each time and they have all been delicious so far. I had an unfortunate run in with their salad that came with the combo, so maybe unfairly, I usually shy away from that. Parking is sometimes tricky, depending on the day. There are parking lots nearby and street parking. On some evenings cars are double parked as the street is popular. This is a restaurant that is confident and comfortable with their food and are happy to share it!

Service: No reservation needed when we arrived, and we were seated and attended to right away. The staff was friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. As the evening went on, it started to get more crowded around 7 PM, so if you’re coming during peak dinner time, a reservation might be a good idea. Taste: We were in the mood for Ethiopian food and decided to check out Beteseb based on the great reviews—and it didn’t disappoint! We ordered a platter with extra tibs, and it was more than enough for the three of us. Every bite was flavorful, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. You can really tell the food is made with care. Ambiance: The space is cozy and welcoming, and we loved the creative presentation of the dishes—it added a fun and modern twist to traditional Ethiopian fare. It’s a great spot for both casual meals and special gatherings. Recommendation: Beteseb is definitely a gem. If you’re looking for delicious Ethiopian food in a comfortable setting with great service, this is the place. We’ll definitely be back!
