Zhu Vegan

One of my favorite dinner spots. They have so many gluten free options. My favorite is the Pad Thai. I do wish they had outdoor seating in the summer.

Soup was good, two entrees were very bland and tasteless.

我很期待品尝全素中餐。 我点了油炸杏鲍菇和麻婆豆腐。 杏鲍菇味道很淡，而且很硬。 蘸上酱汁后，蘑菇有了些味道，但实际上还是硬而不脆。 麻婆豆腐通常是我最喜欢的菜肴之一，但这道菜看起来就像盘子里的泔水，一块块未煮熟的软豆腐躺在黏糊糊的红酱汁里，还有大块未煮熟的胡萝卜和芹菜。 没有四川花椒的影子。 至少还有点辣，但吃起来也就那样。 至少自制姜汁汽水还行，但一个人 35 美元的价格，我再也不会来了。

Zhu is an underrated gem of the greater Boston area. I've enjoyed eating here for years and it has always been consistently great. Some people I know who I would otherwise think would never choose a vegan restaurant have really enjoyed the food here and keep coming back. Super flavorful and definitely above average. If you like a sweet and spicy-but-not-that-spicy combo, I recommend the general tso's soy protein. You can't find vegan chick'n like this most anywhere else. Even some of their more simple dishes stand out in flavor to me. The peanut sauce that comes with the soy protein salad is so good it doesn't even feel like I'm eating a salad. I love their scallion pancake too though I always wish it was bigger. Their deserts are also surprisingly good. Try the fried ice cream! You won't regret it. Their chocolate cake also has a unique kind of crumb that I really enjoy and don't see a lot with vegan cakes. I was very surprised by how good it was. For me personally this is also my favorite place to come with friends because it's a very comfortable and spacious environment to chat in. If you like a place that isn't too busy, this place is for you.

The food was love at first bite. I couldn’t believe what I was eating was actually vegan. Amazing 🤩 definitely going back.

We finally dined in at Zhu Vegan after years of wanting to come here.. tucked on a busy street with limited parking (unless you are lucky) on the street.. we went in for lunch and the ambience was decent nothing great or bad.. there was only server at the time and she did her best with whatever communication she could muster. We ordered a dumpling, soup and entree.. the waitress could have warned us prior to ordering the entree that it comes with an optional soup ($3 extra).. the food was decent .. nothing exceptional.. I personally preferred a bit more flavor .. overall a decent place to dine for vegans.. the lemon grass hot and sour soup was great, dumplings average, tofu delight was bland and mushroom seitan was decent

The $12 lunch special with vegetables, brown rice, miso soup, and soybean sauce was delicious and beautiful (foto).
