I’m back to my favorite place for Mead! They are amazing and look at the size of this burger!

Loved everything about the Cafe. Would love one in our area, but it would not have the same feel to it. If you love mead and Lord of the Rings, I highly recommend a visit.

My favorite food in the houston area. Have to come here every trip, which is at least twice a year because family is in the area. I love the prancing pony burger. They have lots of options too. My dad gets carrots as his side with his burger! They have a very large craft brews selection for those inclined to drink alcohol, as well as mead, wines, and champagne. On the weekends there is brunch offerings like pancakes, eggs Benedict, and other typical breakfast foods. The JRR Tolkien love in this café is amazing. There is stuff from the books and the movies all over. They even have a gollum statue they dress up for every holiday!

My nerdy husband wanted to come here on a day out in Houston. We got seated outside which was preferable for us (it was a little dark inside) The portion sizes were awesome. We probably could have split a burger and been fine. There is a lot on the drink and food menu to choose from. The burgers were very good. I would definitely recommend this place and would come back.

Let's keep in mind everything is relative to the place you think you're going. The Hobbit Cafe is a tiny, hole-in-the-wall (with the theme, we can say that's intentional) beer & burger joint in the Shehers area. So, if you're expecting a tiny house converted into a restaurant / bar that is really designed around the big tree it's built around and outdoor service, you'll be thinking right. Sadly, when we went, it was raining, so it was into the Hobbit House for us. While I'm impressed with the way the wait staff can get food and drinks out in those small rooms & hallways, they still managed to somehow not check in on us frequently. And this place is built on beer and beer-like substances. They have a theme-apropriate specialty in meads (the oldest form of beer-like fermented beverage), but have ton of everything from ales to IPAs to lagers to stouts...you get the idea. As you might expect, the majority of the food is not what you'd call "I'm being very careful about my diet" food, but it's good. And huge! You don't need to order their giant, 4-patty, $40 burger to eat enough for a small football team. The regular burgers will probably get you there. As with most midtown type locations, parking isn't great, but as long as you know before you go, you can adjust. I look forward to coming back when the sun is out and the beer is flowing freely outdoors!

This place is worthy of the journey. The food is amazing, the Mead is cold and plentiful and the staff was loving and kind. I'd recommend this place to anyone. (Side note I had a vegetarian meal...... My first every.,. It was amazing) Be careful of the portion size! Everything is huge, I would suggest sharing if possible.

Stopped by on a weekday afternoon. Quite busy but staff was on point. Had curry chicken salad croissants and a veggie heavy green salad. Lots of nerdy stuff on the wall which was interesting and cool. Will be back! 🧙♂️
