This place is superb

Interesting restaurant. Had a lot of things for sale in it, and the boths were covered with itchy tapestries. I would suggest checking the menu before you go because the portions were smaller. The waiter was kind but took awhile to get back to us, and there were only 2 tables of people.

May, 2025, Update.... Food remains delicious. Excellent service. Great turkish tea. Love the appetizers with fresh pita bread! May 2024 Muhammet remains an incredible owner/host. Amen was a most attentive and pleasant waiter. The Turkish food here is incredibly delicious, of the finest quality! Truly gourmet. The Turkish tea is a treat. Today we enjoyed Jungle Babaganush, carrot tarator, Ali nadir lamb, shakshuka, and of course freshly made baklava! There is also a nice little display of Turkish jewelry, scarves, leather works, and mosaic lamps for sale. I wish I lived closer, I would eat here every week! Update October 2023 Fantastic food, great service. Turkish tea and coffee was delightful! Appetizers delicious! See photos! Update May 2023...back again. Love this place! Once again, Muhammet (owner/host) made us feel so welcome. Delicious lamb shank with rice pilaf, homemade pita bread and hummus, dolmas, turkish tea, and baklava. All homemade! They now sell Turkish goods in the store-- jewelry, leather bags, scarves, etc. See photos. Can't wait to return Update on 8/15/21... just returned to visit second time. Fantastic tea and pistachio rolls! Muhammet, the owner/host, was so gracious sharing his culture with us. He made us feel so welcome. Can't wait to return. Turkish tabouli, dolmades, hummus.. yummy food. We will be back for third visit soon.... Summer 2020-Original visit- The appetizer combo gives you an excellent introduction to Turkish food. Delicious. The hosts/servers/chef/owners ( same folks) were so very welcoming and gracious, explaining the foods, offering tastes etc. Turkish tea great flavor. Baklava off the charts! Go here now! Great service.

First visit and was impressed. I'll be back. Great service and they worked to make sure we were happy with the meal.

2025 Update: Still absolutely love it. It's my favorite restaurant in town. The beyti, lamb shish, babaganoush, and carrot tarator are amazing and our steady go tos. I'd give it 6 stars if I could. A true gem. 2024 Update: Istanbul is and remains one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. If I ever had to choose a final meal, it may very well be the standard here: baba ganoush, lamb beyti, and a piece of the baklava. This place is special and I appreciate them. Original Review: Istanbul is such a unique place and has offered us an exceptional experience every time. Fatih always greets us warmly and provides exceptional service. The food is some of the best you'll find in Morgantown, especially if you like lamb. Our go-to is the baba ganoush for starters, lamb beyti, and lamb shish; but we've tried so many of the other dishes and have always come away happy. I simply can't recommend Istanbul enough. It's a "Must Try" in Morgantown whether you live here or are simply passing through on business. I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars if I could!
