I got to revisit the restaurant in a couple decades.Surprisingly it seems like the restaurant only got better and evolved to the perfection since the last time I visited. The food had very interesting layers of flavors and as a meat eater sometimes I find lack of satisfaction when I eat at vegetarian restaurants. But Hangawi wasn’t the case, from the appetizer to the desserts, every plates were full of flavors and great introductions of various vegetables and sauces. I can’t imagine how much of the dedication was involved making a great restaurant like Hangawi but I am just glad they are still there and also doing great.

This is an amazing restaurant. We were extremely surprised with the taste and the kind of options they had. This is must visit place for vegetarian and vegan eaters. The vermicelli delights is kids favorite and cauliflower bites are extremely crisp and fresh. The best kimchi I ever had.

Amazing food and a large menu! The service was polite, courteous, and the servers explained every dish in the prix-fixe that we ordered. The lychee ice tea was amazing, and every dish in the set menu was great! I loved the dessert of vegan ice cream and cakes, and the dumplings are a must have! The creamy tofu vegan cold soup was delicious too.

A quaint, no-frills spot, tucked away in K-Town. Found it quite hard to rummage through the block to find the place because there’s no clear sign until you get up close (please put up a board). One thing I love about the place is the variety of vegan options they offer. If not for anything else, I’d give it up to them for that! Coming to the food, I honestly wanted to love everything in the menu (or at least most), but was quite disappointed. Now that in no way means the food wasn’t good - quality is top notch, but just didn’t really find the flavor profiles and depth I was looking for. Here is what we ordered: 1. Stuffed Shiitake Mushroms: EXTREMELY EXTREMELY bland, stuffed w tofu. This one I really did not enjoy and ended up wasting. Felt like I was eating boiled eggs, but deep fried. 2. Korean Kochi Skewers: Flavorful and unique, with peanuts dominating the dressing. 3. Maitake Mushroom Fritters: Well they sure were crispy and nice but had absolutely no flavor without the dip. 4. Spicy Baby Dumplings: Yes they were spicy (I’m Indian), but nothing I couldn’t tolerate. I felt this weird hint of butter in every bite, which I did not enjoy. 5. Black Truffle Dumplings: Stuffing was bland but flavorful. Didn’t love the tofu wrapper (felt like sausage casing). Would be amazing if they used a regular crystal dumpling wrap. 6. Mongolian Hot Pot: Really lacked vibrancy and was disappointingly dull. We ordered “extremely spicy” but all I could taste was salt and garlic, though the dish itself was well curated and presented. I’d love for it to have more potency and spice. Items are pricey but there is value for what you pay because we felt very overloaded post 4 starters and the hotpot. Expect to spend about $70 - $80 per person. The ambience is super cosy and traditional, like you are transported to South East Asia in the middle of Manhattan. Staff were super nice and exceptionally hospitable. Don’t think I’ll be going back for the food though!

This place wasn't in my rotation before, but now it's a must-visit. The food here is dependably good. Their employees make service their art form. I can't believe how tasty everything was! Your dollars stretch further at this place.

Some meals stay with you — not just for the flavor, but for how they made you feel. This was one of them. A perfect balance of authenticity and approachability, set against a beautiful atmosphere.
