The Soulful Vegan

Came from out of town for the Akron zoo and my mom wanted to try a vegan restaurant and stopped here. Place has nice ambiance, good music and server was nice. My mom order the Fryer Fish Favorite I believe and I ordered the Rib dinner. My mom said her meal was okay. The rib was pretty good but I believe I got something old that was re warmed which caused the outsides to be very hard then my Mac n cheese was very disappointing. There were so many hard pieces of noodle that I just stopped eating it and it was bland. The waiter offered to switch out for more Mac or anything side (other sides I wasn’t interested in)but I declined. I was hoping she would take the Mac n cheese off our check but didn’t. Also the drinks were very tasteless. Overall very mid and prices should be way lower for the portions you get as well as not getting served fresh food. The vegan wings were the only good and tasty thing we ordered. Overall It was very disappointing and I would not recommend this place.

Horrified to learn they are no longer a vegan restaurant despite having 'vegan' in their name. False advertising much?

Woah…. I haven’t tasted food made with so much love since I was in Mississippi. Food is amazing, staff is wonderful, service is great and the vibes don’t lie. The staff greet you kindly and ask immediately if you are familiar with vegan food, and they’re prepared to answer questions. The food was hot, fresh and flavorful. I will definitely be back!

I don’t often leave unpleasant reviews, but when a place goes out of its way to waste my time and serve mediocrity with a side of indifference, I feel obligated. I stopped into The Soulful Vegan for what I hoped would be a quick, decent vegan lunch. It was anything but. The place was practically empty — one other customer inside — yet somehow, it took 35 minutes to prepare a simple vegan burger. Thirty-five. Minutes. For context: I wasn’t on a tight schedule, but even on the most leisurely lunch break, there’s no universe where waiting over half an hour for a burger in a ghost town of a restaurant is acceptable. The waitress was polite enough, but made zero effort to acknowledge or apologize for the completely unreasonable delay. No explanation, no “thanks for your patience,” not even a weak excuse about the kitchen being backed up. Just a blank, bored stare when they finally brought the food out like this was normal. It probably is the norm here. As for the burger — utterly forgettable. Not bad, not great, just aggressively mediocre, which made the wait sting even more. When you name your place Soulful, you'd hope for some heart behind the food and service. Sadly, both were missing in action. Between the glacially slow kitchen, high price, indifferent service, and ho-hum food, there’s absolutely no reason for me to return, and I’d advise anyone else to think twice before wasting their lunch hour here. Plenty of other spots nearby will feed you better, faster, and with a little actual soul. Avoid.

This is NOT a vegan restaurant and it is appalling they would use that title to describe their food. Cheese, bacon, meat… it should be clear to management that these are not items to be served at a VEGAN restaurant. It is as if they do not understand what that word means.

Was ehh about this place until I found out they sold non vegan food. Was over priced before but I thought it was worth it since I haven’t seen things like vegan shrimp anywhere else but only went here occasionally since that alone costed $30 PER PERSON. Now that they sell non vegan food but still label themselves as a vegan spot, I can see this is just cash grab and they have no respect for animals. Will not be coming back until they learn to stop scamming people and harming animals.

The interior was neat and tidy.

Unbelievably delicious! I’ve ordered multiple times through DoorDash and I cannot speak highly enough about this place! The cheesesteak is PHENOMENAL. I can’t wait to visit in person soon. It’s such a relief to finally have some delicious vegetarian and vegan friendly foods close to home. Please support this business! ❤️

Food was delicious and service was excellent!! Definite will be back!
